Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 16 August 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of quietstitchstudio.com and participation in workshops and services provided by Quietstitch Studio Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using this website or booking a session, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Us
Quietstitch Studio Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (Company Number 15392847) with registered office at 31 Park Street, Bristol, BS1 5NH, United Kingdom. VAT number: GB942817365. Director: Clara Whitmore. Share capital: £50,000.
2. Website Purpose
This website provides information about hand embroidery and needlecraft workshops, private tuition and related educational services. Content is for general information and booking enquiries. It is not legal, medical or financial advice.
3. Workshops and Scope of Tuition
We teach hand embroidery and related needlecrafts (including hoop embroidery, crewel, sashiko-inspired running stitch, slow stitching and introductory goldwork). We do not teach machine sewing, dressmaking or commercial garment construction.
Course descriptions, durations and prices on the website are indicative. Exact inclusions are confirmed when you book.
4. Bookings and Payment
Submitting the website contact form does not create a binding booking. A place is confirmed when we accept your booking in writing and payment is received according to the instructions we provide.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT where applicable unless stated otherwise. You must provide accurate contact details so we can send joining information.
5. Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation and refund rules are set out in our Refund Policy. Please read that page before paying for a workshop.
6. Needle, Scissor and Studio Safety
Embroidery involves sharp needles, pins, scissors, embroidery scissors, frames and, in goldwork sessions, sharp metallic thread ends. By attending, you agree to:
- Follow all tutor safety briefings before and during the session
- Handle needles and scissors carefully and keep them visible on the table when not in use
- Not leave sharp tools where they may injure others
- Inform the tutor immediately of any injury or unsafe condition
- Work within your own physical ability and ask for help with seating, lighting or grip adaptations
Students who refuse to follow safety instructions may be asked to stop practical work for the remainder of the session without entitlement to a refund where the refusal is unreasonable.
7. Personal Belongings and Student Materials
You are responsible for personal belongings brought into the studio. If you bring your own fabric, garments or heirlooms for slow stitching or visible mending practice, you accept the risk of marks, cuts or stitch decisions made under guidance. We take reasonable care but cannot guarantee outcomes on personal items.
8. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, website text, branding, layout, illustrations and teaching materials provided by Quietstitch Studio Ltd are protected by copyright and related rights.
You may keep your own stitched work and class notes for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish or commercially exploit our handouts, patterns or branding without prior written consent.
9. Acceptable Use of the Website
You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, introduce malware, scrape the site disruptively, submit abusive or false content, or misuse contact forms.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The website and educational content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Skill development varies with practice, attendance and prior experience. We do not guarantee a particular aesthetic result or commercial outcome from any workshop.
11. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from failure to follow safety instructions. Our total liability arising from website use or a particular workshop is limited to the fees you paid us for that workshop (or £100 if no fee was paid for website-only claims).
12. Privacy and Cookies
Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we handle personal data and browser technologies.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows when this page was revised. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights where applicable.
